Do you know....

Do you know Lola Donaghue?  Check out some of her beautiful paintings! I love her use of pattern and color, and the color is balanced with a muted white overlay or background.  So fun and vibrant!
I love that the work is neither feminine nor masculine, and I love their whimsical quality.  These would be great in a child's room, but also in an informal den or family room.  They are so happy!

How fantastic is this yellow guy?  I love the quality of the brush stokes in her paintings!

To see more of her bomb-diggity work, check her out on etsy!

Do you know...Britt Bass?

Do you know Britt Bass? Her beautiful abstracts are rocking my world lately.  I love how she applies paint and the thick brush texture it leaves behind.  The texture is even picked up in her prints. Just lovely!  The colors are great too-fleshy pinks with plenty of neutrals and an occasional bright stroke.  These bad boys would look great anywhere.

You can check out more of her work at Leif and Etsy.

Do you know Jaime Derringer?

Do you know Jaime Derringer?  I ran across this fabulous work on Anthology magazine and loved it!  Such fun colors and beautiful abstract shapes and line work.  I would mind having one of these sweet little guys up in my kitchen.

Custom Heraldry

Heraldry...isn't that word just spectacular sounding?  It really lives up to these gorgeous custom crests and insignia full of pomp, circumstance, and pure whimsy.  Love...

Aren't these custom heraldry's from Happy Menocal TDF? Amazing.

New Work

Alright guys, I have made a whole slew of new paintings on paper!  All of these guys are available on Etsy.  Because I've been feeling in the summer mood, several of these bad boys have pink, coral, and orange colors.  Like a melty popsicle, no?

And don't worry...if you can't get enough of the black and white beauties...there are some of those new guys too...

There are tons more on Etsy if you want to check them out!  Plus, some of the older dudes are on there too!

Art & Design

In college and grad-level art classes they tell you that everything mimics fine art-fashion, design, literature, everything.  I know that sounds ridiculous, but I think it's kinda true...
Art is a way to express something that cannot be written or organized in any other fashion that by pure gesture, emotion, and visual understanding.  The unexplainability of art is what makes it so enticing.  These unexplainable bursts seem to trickle down into more cohesive, replicatable ideas about color, passion, composition, pattern, and emphasis.

Fun Photography

Photography is such a fun way to freshen up a room and give it a little edge!  I love the idea of a large-scale photograph over the bed or in place of a mirror in the entryway.  Below are some great photos, availabe as artprints in a range of sizes from Society 6.  The GREAT thing about this website is that they offer framing at a fantastic price as well!

Do you know....

Do you know Emily Rickard?  I am obsssessed with her abstract paintings.  Whether you're looking for a cool or warm colorway, sh'es got the painting for you.  Oh, and I did mention she uses gold foil?  Because she does.

You can check her out on etsy, and she even has inexpensive prints for sale at Society 6.  Some of her more colorful prints would be perfect in a child's room!

Studio Swag

I came across these amazing paintings of ice cream pops years ago and then lost track of them.  I was so excited to come across them again!  I have been thinking of copy-cating this amazing artist, Joel Penkman on a large-scale for a painting in our kitchen.

See more of this artist's great work here.

I am also in love with these amazing, large-scale paintings by artist Pamela Michelle Johnson.  I am seriously swooning of these hostess cupcakes.  And the chocolate bunnies are just in time for Easter!!  Check our her website to see the actual dimensions on these guys...they're really big!

And here's a local Birmingham-based artist, Jayne Morgan.  I do not know Jayne, just seen her work around town, and think it is so fun and great!  Aren't these honey bears great?  More of her work here.

Do you know...

Do you know Tracey Kafka?  Don't worry, I don't either!  I just stumbled upon her work one day, and let me just tell you, it's awesome....
I love the flesh tones of this one, and the way the paint sits on the surface?  Gorge.
If you're into abstracts, like I am, this gal's for you.
Check out this pink and orange stunner.  Wouldn't these be great in a single girl's place?  Or a beach house?
This one has to be my favorite.  I love, love, LOVE that lavender swipe!  And the varying widths of the paint colors is nice too.  So much texture!
A little homage to Rothko, no?  Just like a beautiful sunset!
