Monogram Monday 11.18.13

Can you believe it's Monday, already?  We spent the weekend at a wedding in Little Rock and returned late last night, so I am exhausted!

The wedding was beautiful-lots of rich fall colors and interesting floral arrangements.  Being almost 5 months pregnant, I was, of course, checking out the cakes from the moment we stepped foot in the door.  Rather than a traditional groom's cake, the couple opted for a dessert bar with macaroon (yum!), brittle, and some adorable monogrammed cookies!  I was in heaven!  Somehow, a monogram is just so perfect when it's made out of sugar.

Product Launch soon approaching!

This week has been crazy!  We are quickly approaching our product launch at the Junior League's Market Noel next week.  We are excited, anxious, scatterbrained, and did I mention...excited! Between making some sweet matching outfits and headwear, packaging our products by hand, and getting all of the decor and printables together we need for our booth, we are exhausted!
To top things off, I am going to an out of town wedding this weekend, so my sisters will be on their own to wrap up all the details!  I'm sure they will have a list of last minute things for me to do when I return...I just hope it's not toooooo looooooong......

We've dreamed and talked about starting our own company for years, and for the last 6 months we have been working so hard to get all of ducks in a line to actually do it-establishing the company, research, product development.  It seems like making and selling just a few items would not be so time-consuming, but it is!  And now, we have the products and we are ready to roll.  It's a little bit surreal!

Here's a clip from Talk of Alabama where Margie discusses a couple of the products we will have for sale at Market Noel.  If you're not in town, or if you cannot make it, never fear!  Our website will launch the first week of December.

Nursery Must: Seeing Stars

Now that the cat's out of the bag, I can share what I've been dreaming about lately...the nursery!  I have so many ideas that it's going to be hard to edit them down.  I love a neutral, vintage nursery, like the first image below. To add some simple and sweet interest, I am thinking of stars somewhere.  My room is VERY small, so I'm tempted to paint them on the ceiling....  what do you think?

Exciting News

We've taken the plunge, we are having a baby!

We are scared, nervous, and anxious about having a baby, but mostly we are just excited!  It is hard to imagine that when my mother was my age, she already had 3 children and how young she must've felt during that first pregnancy.  Even as I'm nearing thirty, I still feel too young!  I don't know nothin' 'bout birthin' no babies!

But I am so joyful to experience such an amazing time with my husband.
Joey and I have been together now almost 7 years, married for nearly 4 of those years.  It is strange to think back to our first dates when we were so young and new to each other.  I can remember telling my mother that he was different, that I really liked him, and that he treated me with so much respect and chivalry.  I remember thinking he was so much more mature than other college boys, he was already a man, really.

We were really just kids then, naive to both the happiness and the tragedies that life would bring us in 7 short years.  We have grown up together.

I am so fortunate to have this amazing man as my husband.  We have celebrated our college graduation, our graduate school graduations, our first jobs and our first home. He has supported me during the start of a new business, and held me through the loss of loved ones.  We live in a 1 mile radius of my entire family, and he does not complain (most of the time).  He thinks my stop-motion animations are great, not weird, and he carried one of my friends the entire length of Beale Street after she sprained her ankle.  He is strong and smart, and the most gentle person I've ever come across.

This man is a keeper.  This is a man who I am proud and excited to be the father of my children.
