Do you know....

Do you know Lola Donaghue?  Check out some of her beautiful paintings! I love her use of pattern and color, and the color is balanced with a muted white overlay or background.  So fun and vibrant!
I love that the work is neither feminine nor masculine, and I love their whimsical quality.  These would be great in a child's room, but also in an informal den or family room.  They are so happy!

How fantastic is this yellow guy?  I love the quality of the brush stokes in her paintings!

To see more of her bomb-diggity work, check her out on etsy!

Holiday Getaway

How is it already January 8th?!!??  The last few weeks have gone by so fast, and we did virtually nothing over the holidays to prepare for baby Daly.  It's not panic time yet, but I feel like it's getting close!

While I had great aspirations of finishing the nursery and arranging folded onesies into our new nursery cabinet between brisk strolls around the neighborhood or prenatal yoga, the reality is that we were out of town a lot and I ate my weight in chocolate.

But I was able to squeeze in a mini-vacation with the daddy-to-be, which was a great distraction from my extremely long to-do list.

Since we were already in Mississippi visiting family, we thought we'd first stop into New Orleans for a friend's wedding and brunch the next morning at one of our favorite spots, Antoine's.  This is a special place for us, because this is where we dined the night we were engaged.  Out of tradition, we ordered the Baked Alaska for desert, which really turned some heads and sparked a great deal of jealousy amongst the fellow patrons.  Some people just know how to order...

After brunch, we headed to The Grand at Point Clear for a few days.

Neither of us had been to The Grand, and I must say, it was rather magical.  We arrived just in time to see the gorgeous blood-red sunset on the water before heading to dinner.  When we returned from dinner, the hotel's holiday lights were all lit up and it was beautiful.

While we were down there, we stopped into downtown Fairhope and found some great boutiques.  My fav was "lulu & me", a fantastic fabric and home decor boutique where I found some beautiful fabric for the nursery.
They also had these charming paper mache candelabras in the window, which I fell in love with.  I may have to try to recreate these on my own.

And by far the best restaurant we went to on our stay was The Wash House.
If you go to the Fairhope area, you must, must, MUST go to this place.  I wish I had taken photos of the amazing food we ate, but it's rather romantically intimate in there and I didn't want to spoil the mood for other diners.

It is located in a sort of backyard barn, and the inside is cozy and whimsical, with light-wrapped branches hanging from the ceiling and a brick fireplace.  And the food was absolutely amazing.

The trip was short, but it was such a treat being able to spend time away from the real world with only my husband for a few days before we begin the marathon to April and then a new life with baby.

I hope your holidays were peaceful and relaxing!

Mad for Plaid

Nothing says winter holiday like plaid!  It's cozy and charming, and I love the rustic quality it can bring to a formal interior.

It's hard to beat a tartan or bright red during the holiday season, but I've also seen some great winter white plaids as well.  Those are a great way to keep your decor light and bright, but still with a festive edge.

I hope you are enjoying your holidays, gearing up for Christmas, and experimenting with some wonderfully chic holiday decor!

Interior Door Divinity

I cannot believe Christmas will be here so soon!  I'm looking forward to a relaxing break from school and some time to work on the nursery!

The nursery room is just a little speck, teeny tiny, so there isn't much room for elaborate furniture or art.  I'm thinking instead of accenting the inside door and the closet door.  Everything is relatively neutral in the room, so an accent door may add just the right amount of interest without being too over the top!

Holiday Cheer and Chalkboard Pennant Garland

How has Thanksgiving already come and gone??!!  The past few weeks have been a total whirlwind with many exciting developments:

1. Over the Moon was a hit at Market Noel!

2. We had our big ultrasound appointment and the little one looks all good!  AND...we found out what we are having!  Although, we are keeping that a secret for now....!

3. The in-laws helped us begin setting up the nursery by adding crown molding and putting together the baby bed.

4. We have been thankful and also busy planning for the Paul Meyers Foundation December fundraiser!  We are partnering with About Town magazine to have a holiday party at Avondale Brewery on December 10th.  Please join us!  More info here.

5. The Over The Moon website is up!

While many of our products are on back-order from the market, we do have a few that are ready to ship.  My favorite?  This School Days Pennant, of course!
How cute is this fabric chalkboard garland?  Just like chalkboard, it's reusable for any occasion!

The kit comes with three different ribbons-glitter gold, glitter green, and hot pink velvet-as well as assorted chalks and 18  adjustable pennants, enough to spell out pretty much any message!  Most people think this is a great idea for kids (they could virtually make a new message for each day), but I must say, it's pretty fun for adults too...

We heard so many great ideas of how to use this banner from our customers at Market Noel-having children hold it in the holiday card photo, using it to welcome a specific group of people to your restaurant or church, writing romantic messages to your husband on your anniversary (or just any ole day), draping it over the chair your baby is propped in for his or her " X-Months-Old" photos, and TONS more!  Basically, it's just a really fun and functional gift.

I'm using mine in my nursery!  It's a sweet reminder each time I walk by of how our baby will be here so soon!
As you can see from the above instagram photo, the nursery is still in progress!  Follow Over the Moon on Instagram to see how it develops!  And also to get some sneak peeks at our upcoming projects and events!

Happy Thursday!

Monogram Monday 11.18.13

Can you believe it's Monday, already?  We spent the weekend at a wedding in Little Rock and returned late last night, so I am exhausted!

The wedding was beautiful-lots of rich fall colors and interesting floral arrangements.  Being almost 5 months pregnant, I was, of course, checking out the cakes from the moment we stepped foot in the door.  Rather than a traditional groom's cake, the couple opted for a dessert bar with macaroon (yum!), brittle, and some adorable monogrammed cookies!  I was in heaven!  Somehow, a monogram is just so perfect when it's made out of sugar.

Don't forget to come visit our booth this week at Market Noel! Hope to see you there!

Product Launch soon approaching!

This week has been crazy!  We are quickly approaching our product launch at the Junior League's Market Noel next week.  We are excited, anxious, scatterbrained, and did I mention...excited! Between making some sweet matching outfits and headwear, packaging our products by hand, and getting all of the decor and printables together we need for our booth, we are exhausted!
To top things off, I am going to an out of town wedding this weekend, so my sisters will be on their own to wrap up all the details!  I'm sure they will have a list of last minute things for me to do when I return...I just hope it's not toooooo looooooong......

We've dreamed and talked about starting our own company for years, and for the last 6 months we have been working so hard to get all of ducks in a line to actually do it-establishing the company, research, product development.  It seems like making and selling just a few items would not be so time-consuming, but it is!  And now, we have the products and we are ready to roll.  It's a little bit surreal!

Here's a clip from Talk of Alabama where Margie discusses a couple of the products we will have for sale at Market Noel.  If you're not in town, or if you cannot make it, never fear!  Our website will launch the first week of December.
